Summary

The Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG, based in Stans, operates a significant industrial site at the nearby Buochs airfield. In addition to services such as maintenance and test flights, the site maintains striking hangars and workshops specifically designed for aircraft production and upkeep. The location already has a cinematic history: In 1964, the grounds and the surrounding area of the Pilatus-Flugzeugwerke became the filming location for several scenes in the third James Bond film, Goldfinger. In the film, the Pilatus-Flugzeugwerke represent Goldfinger's (Gert Fröbe) front factory, Auric Enterprises, where the protagonist had the parts of his gold—disguised as a Rolls-Royce—melted down into gold bars. The front view and main buildings of the Pilatus-Flugzeugwerke have changed since 1964, but the remaining parts of the building are still largely identical to how they appear in the film scenes. Wikipedia Pilatus Aircraft also plays a role in the 2006 film Vitus by Fredi M. Murer. Vitus' passion for flying is passed on to his grandfather, who subsequently visits the company and buys a PC-6, in which Vitus celebrates his break into "his own" life at the end of the story.
