Description

The Rütlisaal on the first floor of Restaurant Jodlerwirt in the heart of Luzern was added to the former hotel as a banquet hall in 1897–1898. It was designed by Lucerne craftsmen in the historicist style of the turn of the century. Wood panelling, carvings, murals, stained-glass windows, and the coats of arms of cantons and guilds combine to create a richly decorated space themed around the Rütli and the founding of the Swiss Confederation. A skylight in the centre of the hall and warm wood tones define the atmosphere. The heritage-listed hall has a separate entrance and can accommodate approximately 120 people. On the ground floor, the Jodlerwirt operates a "Schlagerbeiz" serving traditional cuisine, which also serves as a party venue on weekends.
