Summary

One of the most famous Old Town squares in Luzern is the Weinmarkt, which is notable for its picturesque facades and spaciousness. In 1332, the Luzern oath to join the Swiss Confederation was taken on the Weinmarkt. From 1453 until the 16th century, the famous Easter Plays took place on the square. These are regarded as an outstanding theatrical achievement in the early history of German-language drama.
