Director Michael Koch shoots in Uri once again

Foto: Lili Kaelin

Filming began in mid-September for Michael Koch’s new film EROSION. The Swiss director previously shot the feature film DRII WINTER (2023) in Uri, creating an impressive body of work.

EROSION is set in the tension between highly specialised top-level surgery and the mountain world of Uri. The lead role is played by the US actor Peter Sarsgaard. Further roles feature non-professional actors, as was already the case in DRII WINTER.

The story concerns a renowned neurosurgeon whose life falls apart following a botched operation in which a young girl dies. When his own daughter disappears, a journey into an archaic mountain world begins – and into his own interior.

Our image shows director Michael Koch and his team setting up the funeral scene in front of the church, which was filmed in the municipality of Bristen. The production support provided by the FC covered the areas of locations, accommodation, and networking.

EROSION is a production by Hugofilm Features in co-production with Pandora Filmproduktion, SRF, SRG SSR and Arte and is expected to be released in cinemas in autumn 2026.

SRF has published a media release on the project.

Documentary film summer in Lucerne

Foto: bce films & more GmbH

This summer, Lucerne was the setting for filming various documentary projects related to the Lucerne Festival. The FC also facilitated many technicians, companies and creatives from Central Switzerland.

For example, BBC Productions filmed in the Mandarin Oriental with Cecilia Bartoli for the documentary art series ARTS IN MOTION.

Accentus Music Leipzig filmed for DIE MACHT DES RINGS, a co-production with WDR, ARTE and SRF, including, naturally, at the Richard Wagner Museum.

OPEN END - DIE WEGE DES MUSIKERS UND INTENDANTEN MICHAEL HAEFLIGER by bce films & more from Munich accompanied the long-standing Director of the Lucerne Festival during, among others, the final edition of the top-class festival under his aegis.

Following professional roles at the Federal Office of Culture FOC and the Franco-German cultural broadcaster ARTE, Sarah Elena Schwerzmann started as the new Managing Director at Film Zentralschweiz on 1 September.

Regular contact and exchange with filmmakers ensures that we can facilitate technicians, companies and creatives in all areas for production enquiries and projects. Furthermore, we have many other interfaces and cooperation opportunities, and so, as is well known, one and one sometimes makes three!

From alpine to urban – and all in between: Central Switzerland possesses a great landscape diversity within a small area as well as unique locations. In every newsletter, we present one of them to you.

This time we are heading to an alp in the Canton of Obwalden:

Frutt Mountain Resort at Melchsee OW

A high plateau in a karst area at almost 2,000 metres above sea level, an enchanting mountain lake, a magnificent mountain panorama: that is Melchsee Frutt.

In this magical place, directly on the Melchsee, lies the Frutt Mountain Resort. The modern building captures the magic of the location: thanks to natural materials, high-quality interior design with warm wooden elements and coordinated details in an alpine style, an atmospheric ambiance has been created.

The location was previously staged in 2013 by the Lucerne-born director Judith Kennel in the ZDF television film WER LIEBT, LÄSST LOS.
